Question #1: Does this quote surprise you?

“A person’s success in life can usually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he or she is willing to have.” — Tim Ferriss
Life is generous with polarities.  There are plenty of moments where conflict arises, and in our quest for balance, we choose to either raise our sword or keep it sheathed.  Life is not placid...we ensure that.

Let's have a conversation.
Here are  two more questions to consider and comment on...

How have you approached the inner debate between peace and conflict?
Do you step into uncomfortable conversations or find ways to divert them?

Let's skip a few rocks, and create some ripples...

It is easy for me to support the idea that the success of my life comes from my willingness to ask questions that lead to conversations that often times can be uncomfortable. However, after honest reflection of the quote I realize that most of my conversations are not uncomfortable. I am more than willing to have political, religious and conversations about sex, that may be uncomfortable to others. And I agree that many of these conversations have created the greatest memories and moments of my life. The opportunity that this question and quote have created for me is a recognition that I could be more successful in life and business if I would be willing to have the uncomfortable conversations with myself and other that create knots in my stomach. I am uncomfortable having conversations that involve me asking others for money, I become defensive with uncomfortable conversations related to decisions that I have in regards to my business, I am uncomfortable having conversations about what is bothering me. I am uncomfortable having this conversation right now, as I have started this comment several times and am still not comfortable with my response. And yet I know that hitting the "Publish" button will create greater success in my life. 2016 - To having uncomfortable conversations!

    1. YOU HIT THE PUBLISH BUTTON!!!! Yessss! In response to your very transparent and honest comment, I have a hard time maintaining a mild manner and just respond with a head-nod. I'm excited. I'm inspired. Because my hand shakes at hitting that button to display my own discomfort over similar subjects. There are times I push myself into the "Vulnerability Cafe" and really feel like I trip over the threshold and fall flat on my face. (I've even blogged about it). The beauty, as you stated, is that these conversations have "created the greatest memories and moments of my life". The tough inner debates for me have a familiar welcome mat, but that necessarily meant it translates over to difficult conversations outside of myself. However, I want to thank you for being uncomfortable, hitting that button and responding...welcome. It is good to chat.
      Let's continue...and make more ripples....and perhaps some waves? :)
